Abhishek Bachchan (Breathe Into The Shadows)
Abhishek Bachchan plays the twin personas of Dr Avinash Sabharwal and J. While Avinash is a loving, caring father and husband, J is a monster birthed by torment. Avinash is a sorted individual while J is full of turmoil. Avinash wouldn’t hurt a fly while J would stop at nothing to gain his ends. It wouldn’t have been easy for Abhishek to portray two such contradictory personas but he kind of excelled on both fronts.
Arshad Warsi (Asur)
Where does mythology end and reality begin? It’s not an easy question to answer in our country. Dhananjay Rajput, as played by Arshad Warsi, grapples with these conundrums on a daily basis. One one hand he has to deal with serial killers, and on the other, he deals with conspiracy theories questioning his own commitment.
Jaideep Ahlawat (Paatal Lok)
The world has passed Hathiram Chaudhary by. He seems resigned to play a low-level cog in the police machinery, till a high-level case falls into his lap. He doesn’t know he was handed the case because he was supposed to fail cracking it. As he investigates, he begins to see layer after layer of corruption, going upto the highest levels. His own survival and sanity are at stake but he can’t for the life of his let go of the case.
Kay Kay Menon (Special OPS)
Himmat Singh exists for one reason alone — to capture the mastermind behind every major terrorist attack in India. Contrary to popular belief, which dismisses these activities as random acts of violence, he sees a connecting thread throughout and takes liberties with rules and regulations to pursue his line of thought.
Manoj Bajpayee (The Family Man)
Srikant Tiwari is the quintessential family man on one hand and a die-hard patriot willing to sacrifice anything for his nation on the other. He might not be the perfect husband or father but there’s no denying his integrity when it comes to hunting down those who want to harm India. Manoj hasn’t played an action hero before but he fully justifies the role.
